Congressmen demanded an impartial probe and appropriate action in this regard. Srivastava, however, denied the allegation and said the gifts were distributed two days before the implementation of model code of conduct.
The Congress delegation led by former MLA Ajay Rai, district president Prajanath Sharma and city president Sitaram Keshari submitted the memorandum to ADM (administration). They also submitted the print out of Srivastava’s post (dated March 11) on his facebook wall displaying the distribution of gifts.
They alleged that the BJP MLA openly distributed the gifts carrying the image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in rural and urban areas after the announcement of Lok Sabha poll schedule.
Refuting the allegation Srivastava, when contacted, admitted that he had distributed the gifts two days before the announcement of poll dates. I just posted the pictures on my facebook on Monday, he told TOI adding, I know the rules and laws. I am not a fool to distribute the gifts after promulgation of the model code of conduct.
