FALL RIVER -- Time is winding down for Fall River residents to vote in today's recall election on whether to recall indicted Mayor Jasiel Correia II, as well as pick a candidate to become mayor if the recall succeeds.

And yes, since Correia is a candidate as well, he could lose the recall vote but win the popular vote and remain mayor. Federal case and all.

Polls close at 8 p.m. Turnout so far has been light, estimated to be slightly slower than Fall River's last recall election in 2014, which has 32 percent voter turnout.

Four challengers have lined up to challenge Correia: Joe Camara, Paul Coogan, Kyle Riley and Erica Scott-Pacheco.

Staff from The Herald News are fanning out throughout the city tonight -- at Government Center and several campaign headquarters -- to provide breaking news coverage, color and analysis.
