As the state goes for polling on April 23, clashing with Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCT) 2019 exam, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board have changed the date of the exam. Earlier, the exam was scheduled to be conducted on April 23 which coincided with the date of general election 2019, the exam will now be held on April 26.
Class 12 students can qualify for engineering and degree courses, diploma pharmacy courses through GUJCET in government, grant-in-aid and self-financed institutes of Gujarat.
This year, the date of the entrance exam has been changed a number of times. The earlier change in the GUJCET schedule from March 30 to April 4 was announced by the GSHSEB on January 10. The dates were again changed to April 23 due to CBSE exams clash.
"The Election Commission of India on March 10 announced the dates of elections of all phased and Gujarat will go for polls on April 23 which will clash with the GUJCET. This is the reason we are postponing the entrance exam date to April 26," a statement from the board said.
Over 1.36 lakh candidates took the test across 34 centres in 2018. Out of a total of 1,36,498 registered candidates, 1,34,979 took the examinations.
