Police seized ₹91 lakh being transported in a four-wheeler under the Vijayawada Police Commissionerate limits on Monday.
This was almost the first seizure of unaccounted cash in the State after the Model Code of Conduct came into force on Sunday.
The team led by DCP-2 Ch. Venkata Appala Naidu and ACP-North K. Ramesh seized the cash during vehicle checking at Bhanu Nagar Junction, under the Satyanarayanapuram police station limits. Aluri Jaganmohan Rao, a native of Mandadam village in Guntur district, and Yendluri Kiran Kumar, of Gunadala, Vijayawada were arrested, said Police Commissioner Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao. They were handed over to the Income Tax department authorities for investigation.
