Five (foodie) things to do in Canberra, March 12, 2019
Here's a five-course serve of delicious ideas to get excited about.
Beer and Cider Festival
The 12th Canberra Craft Beer & Cider Festival will take on a street carnival feel this year with the heritage Mercure Canberra venue set to cater for the largest-ever collection of exhibitors.
The Festival, which will be held on Saturday 16 March between 11am – 6pm, will be staged on the Batman Street lawns and in the grounds of Mercure Canberra to house an even wider range of premium craft beer and cider exhibitors during the event.
Up to 200 beers and ciders will be available for tasting and visitors will be able to take part in beer/cider food matching sessions, hear guest speakers and meet the brewers. A range of dining options, entertainment and family activities will be available throughout the day.
Canberra’s rapidly emerging brewing scene will be reflected in the presence of Bent Spoke Brewing Co, Captial Brewing Co, Jono’s Jerky and others, while interstate exhibitors include many of Australia’s most renowned breweries such as Sydney Brewery, Endeavour Beer, Bentspoke, Stone Dog Meadery, Akasha Brewing, Coopers, Mountain Goat Beer, Lord Nelson Brewery and James Squire. Specialist cideries such as Nightingale Bros Alpine Cider and Willie Smith’s Cider will exhibit their range of ciders.
Once again, the Festival will help raise funds for Rise Above Capital Region Cancer Relief, a locally based group that provides support for more than 950 cancer patients.
Tickets are now available for $18 pre-purchase (via Moshtix) or $25 at the door (a booking fee applies).

TERRA at Temporada
Terra means land, and Temporada means season, so from the get-go, we can see these two extraordinary venues are very serious about excellent produce. Great ingredients are seasonal, local, and sustainable, and both of these restaurants maintain a commitment to these elements, resulting in some phenomenal dishes that continually wow locals and visitors.
Head to Temporada on Tuesday, March 19, for a very special collaboration between two of Canberra’s favourite food spots; the produce kings over at the bustling and beautiful Terra, and Ben Willis’ hatted hometown favourite, Temporada.
You’ll be treated to a set menu, specially designed by the chefs to celebrate Good Food Month. There’s also an option for matching wines, so if you have the option to leave the car at home, you’ll be in for some delicious vino.
