Stranded US Paraglider rescued safely: DC, Kangra

Dharamshala, March 12, 2019: A United States paraglider, who got stuck in Upper Utrala,the higher reaches of Baijnath sub division of Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district, was rescued this morning.

Snadeep Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Kangra said, “A Chopper was sent this morning with Rahul the Rescuer, who is a local guy. Rahul was para dropped who secured the safe airlift of stranded Paraglider. Rahul stayed back on the mount as copter could lift only one person. He was brought back by copter in second sortie. Kudos to him and other team members.”

DC, Kangra further added that the rescued man is safe and is now at Bir (Baijnath) under medical observation.

Earlier, the Baijnath sub divisional magistrate (SDM) was informed by the Hotel manager about the strucking of this US Citizen in Dhouladhar ranges of Kangra while paragliding from Billing. SDM later requested for a helicopter from adjoining state Uttarakhand to rescue him.

The stranded US citizen reportedly communicated his plight through radio to the manager of a hotel where he had been staying, the official said. The manager, in turn, informed authorities about him, the official said.
