Day 2 of National Workshop on Education

Chandigarh, March 12, 2019: The second day of seven days National Workshop on “Inclusion: Making it happen” was held at ICSSR complex, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Prof. Virendra Kumar, Professor Emeritus, Faculty of law, Panjab University, Chandigarh, spoke on RTE Act: Implications for Inclusions.
He said that one of the characteristics of Education is that it unifies people because it instantly illuminates mind. He further mentioned that UT gave the policy of detention a nod with a rider that a child with 25% marks and above will get a chance to reappear.
Prof.Vijay Nagpal, Department of Laws spoke on RPWD Act: Gaps in Policy and Practice in next session of the day. He mentioned that his journey with disabilities is as old as he himself. He further emphasized that persons with disabilities are equally competent to do most of the jobs but people need to be sensitized to see their potential rather than just focusing on disability as a problem.
Prof.Sudesh Mukhopadhyay, formerly: Chairperson of Rehabilitation Council of India, Head Dept. of inclusive Education NUEPA, Director, SCERT Delhi, spoke on 21st century teachers and their challenges. She told that as a teacher it is our responsibility to be well equipped so that we can reach to each and every child in our classrooms.
Prof.Sushma Sharma, Former Head and Professor of Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra chaired the last two sessions.
