Masters debut beckons for red-hot Harding

2019-03-12 11:58

Cape Town - Rising South African golfer Justin Harding is eyeing a spot at next month's Masters at Augusta National.

Harding, who comes off a maiden victory on the European Tour, moved up 22 places to sit 52nd in the latest World Golf Rankings.

The 33-year-old is in the form of his life, winning his fifth title in nine months - having gone back-to-back on the Sunshine Tour in May last year and repeated the feat on the Asian Tour in July.

Should Harding continue his rise and move inside the Top 50 by the end of March, he will be added to the prestigious field at Augusta.

Harding could join compatriots and former Masters champions Charl Schwartzel and Trevor Immelman, as well as Louis Oosthuizen and Branden Grace (both inside the Top 50 currently), as well as amateur Jovan Rebula (British Amateur winner) at this year's first Major.

The 2019 Masters gets under way from April 11-14 with American Patrick Reed the defending champion.

Meanwhile, Harding, who is a mere 0.04 points away from the Top 50, will be looking to continue his good form at this week's European Tour event, the Kenya Open, at the Karen Country Club.
