Prakash Ambedkar, grandson of Babasaheb Ambedkar and head of the Bharatiya Republican Party Bahujan Mahasangh, has announced that he will not join hands with the Congress and the NCP for the Lok Sabha polls.

Ambedkar has formed a joint front with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen and other local parties.

“The Congress has not responded to our demand and, hence, we have decided to contest elections on our own,” he said.

Ambedkar may lock horns with senior Congress leader and former Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde in Solapur.
