The Pulwama episode has helped to establish new benchmarks in countering terrorism; in this climate, the public narrative agrees well with military actions and we find ourselves vouching for militaristic autocracy (Editorial page, “Bringing politics back in”, March 11). But it must be remembered that violence always gives way to more violence and to uphold the democratic traditions of the nation, we need to find a political solution to problems like terrorism. We cannot always bank on military solutions. Otherwise, we are no better than Pakistan.
