Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu is likely to release the first list of candidates selected to field in general elections in next two days. He is expected to announce the names of candidates for more than 100 Assembly constituencies in the State. He is yet to take a decision on other constituencies. The party has already finalised the list of constituencies where there is a consensus about the candidates. Mr. Naidu may release the list on Wednesday or Thursday.
The TDP chief constituted a committee to sort out the issues in a few constituencies where there are more contenders. Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu would head the committee while former Union Minister Y S Chowdary, MLC Buddha Venkanna and others would be members. They would interact with leaders of constituencies which are considered problematic and see there was a consensus.
Mr. Naidu has begun exercise to pacify the dissatisfied leaders and groups that were opposing the candidates finalised by him. For instance, the party workers have been opposing the candidature of V. Anita for Payakaraopeta Assembly constituency. H spoke to both warring groups. Kovvur, Nidadavolu, Guduru, Cheepurupalli, Patapatnam,Gudivada, Parchur are some of the other constituencies. He wanted to set right the things before the filing of nominations. He would make necessary changes if required, party sources say.
It is learnt that most of the sitting MLAs are likely to get ticket this time.
Mr. Naidu would start district yatras from March 16 or 17.
