Six persons sustained gunshot wounds and at least eight empty cartridges were allegedly recovered from the spot. Police said the number of shots fired was not known.
According to the police, one person, Balbir, is critical while others are stable and under treatment at a hospital in IMT Manesar. The injured included two retired army men and four women. The police said on March 4, Anil, a native of Dhani, which is a settlement of houses in the village of Nainwal, had an argument with his landlord after his pickup car brushed against his car, when he was returning to the village.
Rajesh Kumar, DCP, Manesar, said since the path of Dhani goes through the village and is considered as common area, the two groups from their respective places had argued and fought over the issue.
“The matter was settled after a discussion in the local panchayat and a compromise was reached. On Monday around 8 pm, Parmanand, an aide of Anil, was called to the village centre by the opposing group to one Satpal Singh’s house for another round of discussion after a Dhani villager once again brought up the issue,” said DCP Kumar.
The police said that Parmanand, went to the house of Satpal Singh with his friend, Arjun, where the issue was being discussed. The road rage incident had allegedly taken place outside his house. However, when they reached there, they were allegedly beaten up. On hearing the news, a group of 12 residents went to confront the other group.
Satender Singh, SHO, Manesar police station, said six men from the Dhani group, identified as Balbir, Ramniwas, Kehar Singh, Mahipal, Ravindra and Balkishan sustained gunshot wounds in the ensuing scuffle.
