With the announcement of the Lok Sabha poll dates, district administrations in Jharkhand have geared up to take action against model code violators.

The district administrations have asked all political parties to remove their party’s banners, posters, slogans, flags, and other material from public places within 24 hours. The authorities would launch special drives from Tuesday to inspect these places.

“If anything is found objectionable, the same would be removed and the cost would be recovered from the party concerned. Appropriate action in accordance with the law would also be taken,” said Ranchi deputy commissioner-cum-district returning officer (DC) Rai Mahimapat Roy, while addressing the media.

He also appealed to the people to report cases of model code violation through a mobile application, C-Vigil, which has been introduced for this purpose. “Complainants can also send photographs and videos through this application. Action would be taken within 100 minutes of registering the complaint,” said the DC.
