Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt’s Kalank teaser inspires hilarious memes, Salman Khan gets caught in crossfire
The internet is already flooded with memes on Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt’s upcoming film, Kalank, whose teaser was released on Tuesday.
bollywood Updated: Mar 12, 2019 17:44 ISTTwitter doesn’t need time to come up with memes, and barely a couple of hours after the release of the Kalank teaser, the internet is flooded with hilarious jokes about the upcoming film. While there’s not a lot of dialogue to mine, memesters made the best use of what they had, focussing on Varun Dhawan’s line about debts, and Alia Bhatt’s line about being distraught.
“Humse zyaada barbaad aur koi nahi iss duniya mein (No one in this world is more ruined than I), kissi aur ki barbaadi meri jeet lagti hai (Someone else’s loss feels like a victory),” Alia’s character says in the teaser, which was unveiled online on Tuesday. Several people joked that this is the sort of statement an engineering student, or evil corporations might make.

Meanwhile, Varun’s one line in which he says, “Kuch rishte karz ki tarah hote hain, unhe nibhaana nahi, chukana padta hai. (Some relationships are like debts, you don’t maintain them, you repay them.)” Comedian Karan Talwar made a joke at the expense of Salman Khan and his brothers, Sohail and Arbaaz Khan.

Kalank is a period drama reportedly set in the 1940s, and also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, and Aditya Roy Kapur. Producer Karan Johar had previously said that it was the last film his father Yash Johar had worked on before he died. Kalank is directed by Abhishek Varman and will be released in April. Kalank is Alia and Varun’s fourth collaboration after Student of the Year, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania.
