Two Tanzanian women held with heroin

JALANDHAR: Jalandhar police on Monday arrested two Tanzanian women and seized 200g heroin from their possession in Phillaur. The accused have been identified as Golden (26) and Maria Sulam (28) of Tanzania living in Dwarka Colony in Delhi.
SSP Navjot Singh Mahal said police acted on a tip off and a team, led by Phillaur additional SHO inspector Pawan Kumar, began checking commuters near the bridge when it stopped the duo and quizzed them.
“Cops checked the purses being carried by the Tanzanian women and found 100g heroin in each purse,” he added. Mahal said both the women were immediately arrested and police registered a case under Section 21 of NDPS Act was registered against them.
The SSP said that since July 2018, 19 foreign nationals, including eight women and five men, have been arrested by the Jalandhar police for drug peddling and 10 cases had been registered after recovery of more than 7 kg heroin.
