Welcome to Meth Mansion: Luxury property in an affluent suburb attracts eager buyers - despite its dark history
- A 'meth' house in New Zealand is currently on the market an estimated $675,000
- The property has not been professionally cleaned and 'may be contaminated'
- A second property close by - which has been cleaned - was valued at $710,000
The owner of a house where the previous tenants were heavy meth users is having no trouble attracting potential new buyers despite its chequered past.
Located in West Harbour, an affluent suburb in Auckland, New Zealand, the property was independently valued at $710,000 in December last year.
Elliott Molesworth, the listing agent from North Shore Commercial, confirmed a handful of parties were already interested in the dwelling.

This property in West Harbour, Auckland (pictured) was valued at $710,000 in December last year - despite the previous tenants using meth inside the property

Listing agent Elliott Molesworth described the property (pictured) as a 'little gem with warts'
'We call this house a little gem with warts,' he told stuff.co.nz. 'It's a meth house and a leaky building, but it has a really funky design.
'The last tenants were meth addicts. They didn't cook meth in the house, but they smoked up a storm.
'Before I had it cleaned, I had to dress people up in boots and camo gear just to go through it.'
Molesworth added the cleaning cost was around $14,000, and involved ripping up the carpets and pulling out all the appliances.
A property in neighbouring Te Atatu is also available for $675,000 - despite the lack of a methamphetamine report or the fact the property is still to be professionally cleaned.
The current 'bargain' asking price reflects the fact the home could still be contaminated with the illegal drug.
Another option for a new potential owner would be to demolish the meth-laden home and build two or three units on the 649 square-metre site, situated 30 minutes from Auckland's CBD.

With water views and the CBD in Auckland just 30 minutes away, the property is a 'buyers dream - apart from the fact previous tenants were meth abusers
