The M48 Severn Bridge has been closed as strong winds associated with Storm Gareth cause travel disruption.
Flights from Cardiff to Edinburgh and Belfast have been delayed and ferry services between Pembroke and Rosslare and Dublin and Holyhead are affected.
The Met Office has issued a yellow "be prepared" warning for the whole of Wales, from 21:00 GMT Tuesday until 15:00 Wednesday.
It warned that the storm could bring winds of 65mph.
Due to strong winds, the M48 Severn Bridge was closed at 04:15 on Tuesday in both directions, between junction two for the A466 near Chepstow and junction one for the A403 at Aust.
The bridge has since reopened to cars eastbound. Traffic was being diverted via the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge.
The launch of a ferry service in Carmarthenshire has also been postponed due to poor weather.
StenaLine and Irish Ferries passengers crossing the Irish Sea are advised to check on the status of their service.
Winds are expected to reach 55mph inland and 65mph along western coasts, with heavy rain also forecast.
But gusts ahead of the storm, which was named by the Irish Meteorological Service, have already caused disruption before the weather warning comes into effect.
The Met Office said there could be transport disruption, delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges, and a short-term loss of power and other services.
