City to get direct flight to Mumbai next month
tnn | Mar 13, 2019, 04:05 ISTAllahabad: There is a good news for frequent flyers as the city is going to get direct air connectivity to one more domestic destination — Mumbai.
The Sangam city has already got direct air connectivity to number of cities. Indigo airlines, which is operating a direct flight to Bengaluru six days week, would operate a daily flight to Mumbai from April 20.
According to regional director, Airport Authority of India (AAI), Sunil Yadav, “Flight number 6E-214 would take off from Mumbai (BOM) at 11:15am and land at Allahabad (IXD) at 01:30pm.”
On its return journey, flight number 6E-215 would leave for Mumbai at 02:00pm and land at 4:00pm, he added. The fare would be around Rs 4,000. This is after a gap of around four years that the people would be able to avail a direct flight for Mumbai. Earlier, Air India had introduced a direct flight between the two cities. However, after running successfully for around six months, the flight was withdrawn following which the passengers from Allahabad had no other option but to catch a flight to Mumbai either from Varanasi or Lucknow.
“The service provider has done a proper homework about the probable traffic between the two cities and we were assured that as soon as there would be availability of aircraft, the air-service between the two cities would start, which would now be from April 20,” said Yadav. Earlier, Allahabad had been connected via direct flights to cities like Nagpur, Indore, Lucknow, Patna, Bengaluru and Delhi.
