PUNE: Sanjay Kakade, an associate Rajya Sabha MP of BJP, on Sunday announced he would join Congress and work as per Rahul Gandhi’s instructions. Kakade’s defection is a jolt to BJP as he enjoys sizeable support among BJP corporators as well as party workers.

Kakade was in touch with the Congress leadership over the past few days to seek a ticket for the Pune Lok Sabha seat after it became certain that he would not be BJP’s first choice for the constituency.

“Considering the existing situation, I have decided that I will soon join Congress…I will work on Rahul Gandhi’s instructions. For the past two days, I was in Delhi and I met senior Congress leaders there. I told them that I am willing to work for the party. The leaders welcomed my thoughts and said they would soon initiate my entry,” Kakade told media persons.
