‘Country has fallen behind in key sectors under NDA rule’

Leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha, M. Mallikarjun Kharge, has appealed the voters to defeat divisive forces in the Lok Sabha polls to strengthen the Constitution and make the country strong in all sectors.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan (Block Congress Committee office) at Gurmitkal on Sunday.

Mr. Kharge said the country had fallen behind in health, education, and farm sectors under the NDA regime. “On the one hand common people and farmers have been suffering and on the other hand businessmen like Nirav Modi had escaped from the country.

Calling the demonetisation decision as a “Tughlak policy”, Mr. Kharge said: “Mr. Modi’s immature and ill-planned decision made common people suffer, but it did not affect the rich. But this fact is being suppressed.”

Mr. Kharge also said that Mr. Modi never gave answers in the House when questions on BJP’s promises made in their poll manifesto were raised.

Mr. Kharge recalled that people of Gurmitkal had made him a national leader.

“Without you, I would not have reached this level in the political field. I will always remember your love and affection towards me since 1972. Therefore, you should elect me again in the coming elections.”

District in charge and Mines and Geology Minister Rajshekhar.B.Patil, KPCC working president Eshwar Khandre, DCC president Marigowda Hulakal, and B.V. Naik, MP, also spoke.
