VADODARA: Family of a Food Corporation of India (FCI) official, who is missing since six months, has threatened to go on indefinite fast if the police don’t investigate their complaint swiftly.
Pavan Kumar Sharma, an assistant manager with FCI in the city, has been missing since October 24, 2018. His family members said that a missing persons report was lodged at Sayajigunj police station but the investigation is not satisfactory.
Police, however, said that they have acted on several fronts to trace 34-year-old Sharma. “Sharma was posted at FCI and stayed in Arpita Complex on Alembic Road. He was promoted and transferred just few days before he went missing. Sharma threw a party for the office colleagues to celebrate his promotion,” said Anil Sharma, cousin of the missing official.
“The very next day, his colleagues called us to inform that he is missing from home. Sharma was to board a train to Raipur on the day he went missing. We rushed to the city only to find that he had left behind everything including his mobile phone, cash and debit card too,” Anil told TOI.
He added that the family has been making rounds of the police station since then but the cops have not been doing proper investigations.
When contacted, Sayajigunj police inspector, S G Solanki said, “Soon after he went missing, we questioned his colleague and scanned CCTV footages of the bus depot and railway station. Our teams have also visited Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi to trace him.”
Police have also sought brain mapping tests of Sharma’s colleagues after his family members alleged foul play by them.
“If the police doesn’t act within 10 days, we will sit on dharna and fast unto death in front of the Police Bhavan in the city,” Anil said.
