MUMBAI: Around 30 girl students at IIT-Bombay were hospitalised after consuming sweets at their hostel's mess on Saturday night. While most of them were discharged by Sunday evening, the institute is yet to ascertain the exact reason for food poisoning. Food samples have been sent for lab testing.
Students started complaining of vomiting after having dinner at the mess on Saturday night, said a resident of hostel 10. The warden was informed about the food poisoning cases by midnight. A mail was sent out to all students at around 5 am on Sunday, asking students to report to the IIT campus hospital if any symptoms of food poisoning were noticed. "Most girls are now stable. The institute has sent the food samples for testing. We are waiting for the reports to ascertain the exact reason," said a student.
