Peter Handscomb scored his maiden ODI century while Ashton Turner made a brilliant 43-ball-84 as Australia chased down a mammoth target of 359 to beat India in the fourth ODI encounter in Mohali on Sunday.

This was the 27th time that the Indian cricket team has posted a total in excess of 350 but it was the first time that the opposition was able to chase it down. Before Sunday, the record was held by Pakistan (2007 in Mohali) and Sri Lanka (2017 at The Oval) as both teams chased down 322 - the highest ever against India in ODIs.

This is also the second-highest successful chase for any side in India. In 2013, India quickly chased down 360 versus Australia in Jaipur with the loss of just one wicket and that still remains the record.

The IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali has also not been that lucky for India when facing Australia as they have lost all four of their last encounters. Their last win at the venue came way back in 1996.

Peter Handscomb top-scored with 117 as Australia beat India by four wickets to level the series at 2-2.

Ashton Turner hit an unbeaten 84 to anchor Australia’s 359-run chase as they achieved the target with 13 balls to spare and take the five-match series into the final ODI in Delhi on Wednesday.

A second-wicket partnership between Handscomb, who registered his maiden ODI ton, and Usman Khawaja, who made 91, was key to Australia’s best ever ODI chase against India.
