Businessman hangs himself in Greater Noida

A 40-year-old businessman allegedly took his life by hanging from a ceiling fan in his house in Springfield society in Zeta 1 area of Greater Noida. Police said they are yet to ascertain the reason for his death as no note was recovered from the spot.

A 40-year-old businessman allegedly took his life by hanging from a ceiling fan in his house in Springfield society in Zeta 1 area of Greater Noida. Police said they are yet to ascertain the reason for his death as no note was recovered from the spot.

The man was identified as Ravindra Malik, from Haryana. He was living in Greater Noida with his wife and two children and was the owner of a manufacturing company at Ecotech 3.

“We received a call from the man’s wife at 8.50am on Monday She had been visiting her parents and when she returned with her father, she found the house locked from inside. When no one answered despite multiple attempts, they called the security guards who broke down the door and found Malik hanging from a fan,” Jitendra Kumar Tripathi, police post in-charge, industrial area, Surajpur, said.

Police said they suspect losses in business to be the cause behind the alleged suicide. “However, the family has not filed any complaints in the case,” Tripathi said. Police also found a Rs 6,000 bank cheque in the room.

In another incident, a 31-year-old woman, living in Sector 48, allegedly ended her life by hanging from a ceiling fan

“The woman, Sanya Gupta, was from Faridabad. She had moved to Noida after her wedding marriage three years ago. On Monday the family found her hanging in her room after which they informed us. A team took her to a hospital nearby but she was declared dead on arrival,” Ajay Kumar Aggarwal, station house officer, Sector 49 police station, said.

He said no suicide note was recovered from the spot and the family is unable to fathom a reason behind this. She is survived by her husband and daughter.

A third case was reported from the Yakubpur village under Phase 2 police jurisdiction where a 35-year-old woman allegedly took her life by hanging from the fan with a saree No note was recovered from the spot .
