GREATER NOIDA: Three men had a narrow escape with minor injuries after a speeding truck hit the cab they were in Sector 15A on Sunday evening.
The cab driver has been identified as Sonu Kumar, a resident of Nangloi in Delhi. He was ferrying two passengers from the NIIT campus in Greater Noida to their homes in Delhi, police said.
The truck was going towards Noida entry gate when it rammed into the Swift Dzire from behind on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway around 4.45pm on Sunday. The car crashed into a divider due to the impact and turned turtle, getting sandwiched between the divider and the truck.
“We received information of the collision around 5pm from a passerby. A police team was immediately sent to the spot, but the truck driver had already fled by then. The three men who were in the car had also left the spot after being safely pulled out of the car by passersby,” said Rajveer Singh, SHO of Sector 20 police station.
He further added that the car riders had survived with almost no injuries and had gone to the hospital on their own. “We are currently trying to trace the truck driver. Both vehicles have been seized,” said Singh.
Maan Singh, a guard deployed at Gate No. 2 of Sector 15A who eyewitnessed the accident, said the truck driver was speeding and hit the cab from behind. “The car collided with the divider and overturned. Meanwhile, the truck driver lost control of the vehicle and again hit the car. The car was sandwiched between the truck and the divider. The persons inside the car, however, were miraculously safe when we pulled them out of the car, with only minor injuries,” Singh said.
No police complaint has been filed so far.
