Around 12.30pm, locals first noticed smoke from the first floor of the pharma company and immediately informed the Mapusa fire service station. The officials said they could not find the exact cause of fire but said it might have occurred due to an electrical short circuit. The exact loss to the company could not be confirmed.
“We managed to save the ground floor which was full of machinery, but the first floor, which had 13 air handling units was gutted” said Mapusa fire services in-charge, Bosco Ferrao. “All documentation on the first floor was destroyed,” Ferrao said.
