Olympic cyclist and three-time world champion Kelly Catlin has died at the age of 23 by suicide… USA Cycling announced her death on Sunday saying quote "the U.S. cycling community suffered a devastating loss with the passing of Kelly Catlin… Kelly was more than an athlete to us and she will always be part of the USA Cycling family.." Catlin reportedly died Friday night at her on-campus residence at Stanford University where she was a graduate student pursuing a degree in computational and mathematical engineering while she trained for track cycling… Catlin won three consecutive gold medals with the U.S. women's pursuit team from 2016 to 2018 world championships..
At the 2016 Rio Games, Catlin helped the United States win the women's pursuit team silver medal… In a recent blog post for the bike racing magazine VeloNews, Catlin talked about managing her different pursuits, saying quote "It's like juggling with knives, but I really am dropping a lot of them.
It's just that most of them hit the floor and not me."
