A 30-year-old employee of Delhi Stock Exchange (DSE) was stabbed to death in central Delhi’s Rani Jhansi Road late on Saturday, the police said on Sunday.
The deceased’s family said that he had received a threat from some men with whom he had been in a dispute over a property.
The police said that deceased Mohammad Samir, who lived in Sadar Bazar with his elder brother and his family, had left for office around 8 a.m. on Saturday. They said when Samir did not return home till late in the night, his family started searching for him and eventually informed the police about the same.
“The police, meanwhile, were informed about a man’s body, which was found in Rani Jhansi Road. The body had multiple stab wounds on the chest and abdomen. When we reached the spot, we found that the deceased looked similar to Samir, who had been reported missing by his family. The family members were informed and they came and identified the body,” said a senior police officer. The body was lying 400 metres away from Samir’s house.
Preliminary enquiry has revealed that Samir had been in a dispute with a few men in his neighbourhood over a property since two years. “His family members suspects that the men with whom he was in a dispute have killed him. They said Samir often used to spend time with the neighbours after office. We have registered a case of murder at Deshbandhu Gupta Road police station. A few suspects have been detained and they are being questioned,” the officer said.
The police are also examining CCTV footage from the vicinity of the spot where Samir’s body was found, to identify the accused.
