An off-duty police officer has been caught up in a wild street fight which saw three teenage boys led away in handcuffs.
The officer and a group of passersby in Sydney's northern beaches tried to break up a group of brawling boys on Monday evening.
When the men tried to intervene, witnesses say the boys turned on them.

Three of the boys, all aged under 18, were led away in handcuffs for further questioning
Six police cars and two ambulances were called to the street in Newport.
The fight reportedly began inside a beachfront home before it spilled out onto the streets.
One resident said at least a dozen uniformed police officers were called to the fight right as it concluded.
'Girls were screaming and there were numerous young people milling about, some wearing school uniforms,' the resident told The Manly Daily.
'I was told that an adult stepped in to break it up and the kids turned on him before the brawl escalated.'
