Disgraced footy star Ben Barba has broken his silence for the first time since being dumped from the NRL after allegedly assaulting his wife outside of a casino.
The 29-year-old, who will likely avoid assault charges over the incident, erupted in a fit of rage and threatened to 'hurt' a reporter after being approached on Monday.
'I will hurt you. Do you want me to hurt you?' he shouted at the Nine News reporter.
'I'm about to be charged with nothing (but) I don't feel lucky. I've lost everything.'
Barba said he was going to hand himself in to police on Tuesday, more than a month after the fight with wife Ainslie Currie, who is also the mother of his four children, at Townsville Casino on Australia Day.

Ms Currie, who has stood by the troubled ex-player through a myriad of off-field controversies, didn't make a complaint to police over the incident.
Senior policeQueenland Police are reportedly 'disappointed' Ms Currie didn't make a formal complaint, according to Nine News.
They say it is entirely her decision on whether or not to press charges after CCTV footage allegedly showed Barba throwing rocks at her out the front of the casino.
Barba, meanwhile, said he had 'lost everything' in the wake of the alleged assault.
The former Dally M Player of the Year award recipient was dropped by the North Queensland Cowboys last month, subsequently losing his $300,000 contract.
He has since been working as a $20-an-hour metal worker at a Mackay business and living with his parents in their housing commission home.

Ms Currie begged the Cowboys not to cut him for the sake of their family but he was axed anyway, according to The Courier-Mail.
He was deregistered from the NRL, meaning even if he is cleared of any charges, a comeback seems unlikely.
NRL boss Todd Greenberg said he 'can't see him ever returning'.
