Patiala: Parole jumper, convict in rape case arrested

PATIALA: The police have arrested a prisoner who had jumped the parole for several months and did not return to the jail in Nabha.


The police have registered a case against him under sections of the Punjab Good Conduct Prisoner Temporarily Release Act 1952. The police claimed that the accused was nabbed after conducting raids at his house and other areas in Patiala city.


The police said the accused was lodged in the jail in a rape case and was imprisoned for life. He was given parole for six weeks following his good conduct. The police said the accused had gone on parole on August 24 and was supposed to return to the prison by October 6.
