CICU inks deal with Taiwanese firms during visit
TNN | Mar 11, 2019, 07:59 ISTLudhiana: A delegation of Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) returned to the city from Taiwan where the association members had gone to attend a machine tool expo in Taipei.
The businessmen told TOI that besides signing a memorandum of understanding with Taiwanese companies, they also gained knowledge about the latest trends in the industry and how can they boost their trade by using modern techniques.
Elaborating on the experience, CICU president Upkar Singh Ahuja said, “Taiwan’s economy is export-oriented and this country has attained mastery in production of electronics and machinery and at the same time, Taiwan is one of the world’s largest suppliers of computer peripherals. We learned a lot of things during our visit, not only in terms of business but otherwise too. Every citizen of that country is responsible and disciplined, there is full respect for the elderly and differently-abled persons.”
“The factories in Taiwan have dedicated research and development wings and they express their capabilities through innovation and don’t indulge in price reduction. The machines and robotics which they use are intelligent and rejection is controlled using modern tools and inspection methods like cameras, sensors probes etc. Environment control is their top priority,” Ahuja added.
CICU general secretary Pankaj Sharma was in awe of their human-less operation of machines. “These machines can run for hours without manpower. The metal 3D printers which are very rare elsewhere are common in Taiwan and safety is not an issue as most of the factories are without boundary walls as there is no risk of thefts,” he said.
