Police spent the day investigating the incident before arresting McGregor Monday evening at a home in Miami Beach and booking him at Miami-Dade jail.

The Irish mixed martial arts fighter was in South Florida celebrating his mother's 60th birthday, according to Instagram photos posted over the weekend.

This isn't the first time McGregor, one of the top-paid athletes in the world, has been in trouble with the law for violent actions.

He was arrested last April after he attacked a bus carrying several UFC fighters by throwing a dolly through a window.

McGregor turned himself in to police the day after the melee and was charged with assault and criminal mischief.

He pleaded guilty in July to a single disorderly conduct charge in a Brooklyn courthouse in order to avoid prison time.
