'Settled' road-rage turns violent in Ahmedabad

AHMEDABAD: A resident of Shastrinagar area of the city filed a complaint with Naranpura police stating that three persons had thrashed him and his wife at his residence over an issue of a 'settled' road rage.
Complainant Mukesh Singh (36), who works in the book binding section of Gujarat high court, said that he and his wife had met an accident on Saturday after a scooter-borne woman hit them in which three of them suffered minor injuries. After this accident, Singh and the woman took pictures of each other's vehicles, decided to strike a compromise and not to file complaint with police.
Later in the night, some persons came to his house and started knocking the door while shouting Singh's name. When the complainant went out, the man, who was shouting his name, asking why Singh had hit his sister after the minor accident. The person, who identified himself as one Sumit Desai, began abusing Singh and later started thrashing him. There were two more persons along with Desai, who also thrashed Singh. When Singh's wife tried to rescue him, the three men pushed her and beat her.
Naranpura police registered a case of assault, trespassing, criminal intimidation and abetment against three persons including Desai and his friends, Bhavik Patel and Parth Pandya.
