New Leon Cupra R ST Doesn’t Want To Be Called A Seat Anymore

Seat’s newly created performance performance brand has just launched an updated version of the Leon Cupra R ST.

Based on the sporty compact estate, it adds 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) of torque to the 2.0-liter turbo-four – and there’s no sign of a Seat badge anywhere.

It has 300 PS (296 hp / 221 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque, goes from naught to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.9 seconds and up to 250 km/h (155 mph). Stopping power is provided by Brembo brakes, with 340 mm (13 in) front and 310 mm (12 in) rear rotors.

“The Leon Cupra R ST represents our ability to make unique, exciting cars with the most advanced technology ready for the most demanding and diverse of drivers”, said Cupra’s Director of Strategy, Business Development and Operations, Antonino Labate. “It’s the amalgamation of the brand’s experience in motor racing and the ability of our design and engineering teams to seamlessly mix performance and functionality.”

It rides on exclusive 19-inch wheels and can be ordered in one of four colors called Magnetic Tech, Midnight Black, Nevada White and Blackness Grey. The rest of the exterior is contrasted by copper accents.

Greeting the driver and passengers upon opening the doors at the illuminated sill plates. The driver and front passenger will sit on a pair of sports seats and will be surrounded by copper accents, Alcantara trim, fabric with carbon look door panels and a few other items. The infotainment system has a special welcome screen and is offered as standard alongside the digital instrument cluster, reversing camera, Connectivity Box and keyless entry.

Cupra hasn’t disclosed pricing yet, but that should happen soon enough as sales of the Leon Cupra R ST will commence this month.
