Veteran Yakshagana artiste chosen for Mogasala Sharadamma award
TNN | Mar 12, 2019, 04:59 ISTMangaluru: Aradhana Charitable Trust, Kulshekar, is organising ‘Aradhana Sambhrama 2019’ at T V Raman Pai Convention Hall in Mangaluru from 2.30pm on March 17.
Dr Mohan Alva, chairman, Alva’s Education Trust, will inaugurate the programme. Former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat Harikrishna Punarooru will preside.
Awards
This year, the trust has chosen veteran Yakshagana artiste Sujana Sullia for Mogasale Sharadamma Yaksha Prashasti – 2019. The award will comprise Rs 10,000 cash and citation.
Puttur Narasimhanayak (music), N Mogasale Kantavara (literature), Jeevanram Sullia (theatre), Balakrishna Vaidya (folk), Harekala Hajababa (education), Narayana Murthy (medical), Shantha Mallesh Rao (role model woman), Eshwar Bhat (social service), Sumangala Ratnakar (Yakshagana) and Shivashankar Bhat (religious) will be bestowed with honourary awards for contribution to their respective fields. The honourary awards comprise Rs 5,000 cash and citation.
Minister for urban development and housing U T Khader and former KPSC chairman T Shyam Bhat will hand over the awards.
Prior to the award ceremony, audiences will be treated to cultural extravaganza with television actor Namita Desai and team rendering ‘Anubhava Natya’, a Bharatanatyam performance on Kannada bhaavageete by singer Ganesh Desai. A jugalbandhi by playback singer Ajay Warriar, Puttur Narasimha Nayak and Rashmi B Chikkamagaluru will keep the audiences hooked to their seats in the evening, Aruna Bhat, president of the trust, said.
