Law enforcement officials from across the state took to social media on Monday to offer condolences and pay tribute to Patrick Rogers, a well-known police law instructor and retired Fall River lieutenant who died Sunday after a long battle with cancer.
Fall River Police Department wrote in a Facebook post, "We have lost a legend in the Law Enforcement Community. Lieutenant Rogers may you Rest In Peace '9-1.' We’ll take it from here."
Attleboro Police Department remembers Rogers as "the commonwealth's best."
"A legend has left us today...but his legacy has not. He will live on because he taught us well. He was a cop, who knew how to teach cops. He will never be replaced, replicated or copied. He was and will be the only Patrick Rogers," APD wrote on their Facebook page.
The Taunton Police Department recognized Rogers for his service and dedication to police training: "He has taught, inspired and connected with so many police officers that his impact will have lasting effects."
"Pat was an expert in so many aspects of law, procedure and policing," Somerset Police Department wrote in a Facebook post. "Anyone who learned from Pat knew he was the best."
