Women’s car rally held for treasure hunt
TNN | Mar 11, 2019, 07:59 ISTLudhiana: The Ficci Ladies Organisation (Ficci-Flo) organised a car rally — ‘Wheeling to Power’ — on Sunday to mark the International Women’s Day. The rally was a treasure hunt that comprised a set of clues specifying a route to travel, and a speed at which to travel. It was flagged off from Sutlej Club by deputy commissioner Pradeep Aggarwal and Mamta Ashu.
Sutlej Club life member Sangeeta Jain said: “A team consisted of a driver and a navigator, and they travelled the specified route at exactly the specified speed. We put our efforts towards not causing any inconvenience to the public, while following all the traffic rules at the same time.”
Ficci-Flo chairperson Reena Aggarwal said: “This car rally is to spread awareness about women’s empowerment, such as women’s safety, infant mortality, prevention of child marriage, and employment, among several other awareness campaigns (Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiative; and Breast Cancer Awareness) en route, and boost participation of women in motor sports.”
The rally reached Atam Vallabh Janpath Estates around 1pm. Lucky draws were announced by income tax commissioner Rohit Mehra. Another member said: “Such events mark the awareness of social issues related to women at a major level. This event impacted people from all walks of life.”
