Two miscreants fire at petrol pump owner, loot Rs 9 lakh

Kanpur: In a broad daylight robbery, two motorcycle-borne miscreants shot at a petrol pump owner, and escaped with cash worth Rs 9 lakh in Bibipur Chiryari village in Hasanganj area of Unnao on Monday.
The injured, identified as Anupam, who owns a petrol pump in Unchahar in Unnao, is a son district general secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha Savita Rawat.

Senior district and police officials rushed to the spot and got admitted the injured person to a hospital. Forensic team and a field unit also arrived at the spot.


While Anupam was heading towards the State Bank of India’s Hasanganj branch for depositing cash worth Rs 8.63 lakh, two motor-cycle borne miscreants, wearing helmets, followed Anupam, who was in his car, the police said.


“The miscreants overtook his car and forced him to stop. They then aimed their weapon at Anupam and tried to escape with the bag containing cash. But when Anupam resisted their attempt, they opened fire at him which hit him on his left hand. They managed to flee with the bag”, the police official said.


After being informed about the crime, SP, Unnao, MP Verma, rushed to the spot and conducted investigation. BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj also reached the hospital to meet injured Anupam. SP said special teams have been formed to work out the case. Investigations are being conducted in this connection, he added.
