Kolkata: Man arrested for damaging Rabindranath Tagore statue

KOLKATA: A man, who damaged the statue of Rabindranath Tagore near Purbachal, was arrested by Bidhannagar Police. The man - identified as Sujay Mandal - was in an inebriated condition, police said.
According to locals, Mandal, a cab driver who's a resident of Kaliganj in Nadia, reached Purbachal early in the morning. He picked up a stone and started hitting the statue. Locals saw Mandal hitting the statue and nabbed him. Later, Mandal said that he would have brought instruments had he known that it would be so difficult to break the statue.
