gurgaon Updated: Mar 11, 2019 03:56 ISTA 15-year-old girl from Delhi was offered lift in a car at Iffco Chowk by two people and one of them later allegedly raped her inside the vehicle at an isolated place in Delhi, police said on Sunday. Police are yet to arrest anyone for the crime that was committed almost three weeks ago.
The victim and three of her friends were offered lift by two people in a car Around 1am on February 18 to Chattarpur in Delhi and later one of them raped her, said Indresh, sub-inspector at DLF Phase 2 police station, who is the investigating officer in the case.
An FIR was registered at DLF Phase 2 police station on Saturday under section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 323 (assault) of the Indian Penal Code after the Delhi Police forwarded the girl’s complaint to the city police. The girl, who worked as a cook with a caterer in Gurugram, was on her way back home when the incident happened. She lives in a slum near Chattarpur, police said.
According to police, there were two men in the car when they offered lift to the four women. “Later, two other men boarded the car and they took the vehicle to an isolated spot, and one of the men raped her,” the SI said. The officer said that the victim told police that the other women were taken out of the car when she was raped and assaulted.
According to the victim’s complaint, all the four women were then dropped back to Iffco Chowk by the accused.
Initially, an FIR was filed in Delhi on February 20 after the victim’s family approached police. “We are yet to meet her. We will call her to the city to record her statement and things would be clear after that,” the SI said.
At least 18 people have been robbed and assaulted in the city in 2019 after being offered shared rides.
