BHOPAL: Election Commission has written to state government to fill vacant posts immediately for the smooth conduction Lok Sabha elections. The letter may not be a direct comment on the affairs of the state government but it is seen in reference with large numbers of transfers in recent days. No department has remained untouched from transfers- ranging from tehsildars, naib-tehsildars, police officials of almost all levels besides teachers and professors.
The chief electoral office has sent letters to general administration department (GAD), home department and the revenue department. Employees and officials of these departments are crucial in conducting elections. The election commission has also said in its letter that relieving and joining of the transferred officials too must be ensured as several employees do not join after transfer.
A letter has been sent to the home department too as a large number of police officials were transferred recently. Revenue department has been addressed as tehsildars and naib tehsildars besides other officials were shifted in transfer spree of the government. Letter says that Lok Sabha elections are just round the corner therefore state government should ensure that all officials engaged in election work should be in place and all the vacancies are filled on time for smooth conduction of elections.
