Man booked for abetting suicide of daughter’s lover

HISAR: Hisar police have booked a man for allegedly abetting the suicide of his daughter’s paramour. The man took Rs 7 lakh from his daughter’s lover by promising to get him married to his daughter.
The deceased has been identified as Bhanu, 20, a resident of Dogran Mohalla of Hisar city. The dead body of the deceased has been handed over to his family after postmortem.
Hisar police spokesperson Harish Bhardwaj said that HTM police station registered a case under section 306 (abetting the suicide) of the Indian Penal Code against father of the lover of the deceased, on the complaint of Ashok, Bhanu’s father.
In his complaint, Ashok said that his son came home after consuming poison on Thursday evening. He was admitted to a private hospital for treatment where he died, he added.
Ashok said that he later found out from Bhanu’s friends about his love affair with a girl and how the girl’s father took Rs 7 lakh from him, promising him marriage. Ashok said he also found a suicide note written by Bhanu, which confirmed the story.
Following his complaint, the police registered a case against the father of Bhanu’s girlfriend.
