Financier gunned down in Jalandhar, two women, among six booked
The accused who fired three bullets suspected the victim, a married man, of having an affair with their sister
chandigarh Updated: Mar 10, 2019 22:26 ISTA 27-year-old married man, Jaswinder Singh, alias Jassa of Deol Nagar, was gunned down in the Sangat Nagar locality, late on Saturday night. The accused brothers, Ajay Masih and Vijay Masih, suspected Jassa of having an affair with their sister, police have said. They fired three bullets at Jassa, a financier, who is survived by wife, a five-year-old daughter, brother and parents.
In addition to the brothers, the police have also booked Vijay’s wife Babli, sister Renu, father Chehu Masih and an uncle, who could not be identified yet. Jassa’s brother, Gurpreet Singh, is the complainant.
“Preliminary investigation show that the accused had an heated argument with the victim, before attacking him with a sharp-edged weapon. To escape, Jassa ran into the streets of Shastri Nagar and reached a dead-end. He entered a house to save his life, but the accused chased him and fired three bullets at him,” said deputy commissioner of police (investigation), Gurmeet Singh, adding that he was taken to a private hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Police sources claim that the accused brothers were not on talking terms with each other till three months ago and are also facing another attempt to murder case.
The accused, all of whom are absconding, have been booked under sections 302 (murder), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) of the IPC and under the Arms Act.
“Two relatives of the accused have been rounded up for investigation. No arrest has been made. The accused will be held soon,” the DCP added.
