Hoardings removed in Ambala after Model Code of Conduct comes into effect

AMBALA: Following the Model Code Of Conduct for the upcoming general elections coming into effect across the country since Sunday evening, Ambala deputy commissioner (DC) Sharandeep Kaur Brar on Sunday held a meeting with the senior officials of the district administration.
During the meeting, the DC ordered the removal of all political hoardings and banners in Ambala, following which the Ambala Municipal Corporation (MC) workers started the process of removing them.
DC said, “For putting up any sought of hoardings, now permission must be sought from the district administration and the hoardings placed without permissions would be removed immediately.”
As per information, special places have been allocated by the district administration for putting up the hoardings and no party or organisation would be allowed to place the same anywhere else in the district.
DC said a control room would be established at the additional chief secretary office in Chandigarh and a single window counter would also be established there. All the permissions related to elections must be taken online only.
The meeting was attended by the Ambala superintendent of police Mohit Handa, MC commissioner Meenakshi Dahiya, all the SDMs and other senior officials of the district administration.
