HYDERABAD: Asserting that a win in Chevella Lok Sabha constituency from where MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy quit the TRS and joined the Congress is a foregone conclusion, TRS working president KT Rama Rao said the federal front, conceived by his father K Chandrasekhar Rao, will hold all the aces in the coming elections.
Addressing party workers in Chevella on Saturday, KTR said the federal front would be in a position to decide as to who would form the government at the Centre.
He said neither the BJP and its allies nor the Congress and its allies would get a majority in the elections. “The federal front will play a crucial role in government formation,” he said.
KTR described both the BJP and Congress as “big regional parties” and not national parties. “Where is BJP’s presence in the south? And in how many states is Congress in power,” he wondered.
The TRS working president, however, said credit for the party’s victory in the coming polls should go only to KCR.
Targeting Vishweshwar, he said the TRS would win the LS seat irrespective of who the candidate was. “Winning the Chevella seat is like winning mini-India,” he said. In the 2014 elections, Vishweshwar Reddy won the seat on TRS ticket and switched over to the Congress last year.
He was also confident of wresting the Nagarkurnool LS seat from the Congress. Addressing party workers meeting in Wanaparthy, KTR reminded them that the TRS had polled more than six lakh votes in all the assembly segments in the December assembly polls, which would come in handy for the LS elections.
In the 2014 elections, the Congress had won only one LS seat in Telangana when Nandi Yellaiah won with a thin majority from Nagarkurnool.
