BIHARSHARIF: Nalanda district magistrate (DM) Yogendra Kumar Singh flagged off a new air-conditioned bus to Noida on Saturday. It will travel via the Nawada, Gaya, Sasaram, Varanasi, Kanpur and Agra route
According to state transport secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, the luxury bus, purchased at a cost of Rs 1.65 crore, will ply between Biharsharif and Noida thrice a week. It is equipped with facilities like CCTV cameras, LCD TV, free Wi-Fi service and air suspension system to ensure lesser jerks.
“Earlier, passengers would depend on trains or flights to travel to Delhi, but with the introduction of a new bus by the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation, they have another option now,” the DM said, adding a one-way journey would cost Rs 1,750 each.
Chief minister Nitish Kumar had flagged off luxury buses from Bihar to Ghaziabad on March 1. It was announced that similar buses would be introduced from Bihar to National Capital Region on the next day (March 2).
Asked about the delay in launching the bus from Nalanda, Agarwal said, “We were not able to procure permit from the Uttar Pradesh government in this connection.”
Earlier, a city bus service was launched from Biharsharif to Patna and Kargil Mor to Sohsarai by state transport minister Santosh Kumar Nirala on 26 December last.
