JANE GOODALL: MY LIFE WITH CHIMPANZEES
★★★★
8.40pm, SBS
Forget the chemistry between crooning actors at the Oscars. This recently unearthed footage taken by Hugo Van Lawick of his wife to be, Jane Goodall, in Gombe in the late 1950s, is the real deal. Romance aside, this is a precious biography of the pioneering chimpanzee researcher. Reflecting now on her incredible experiences, she remains true to her passion, diverting tabloid interest in her life to a rallying cry for conservation.
ODDLANDS
★★★★
10.10pm, ABC
Bruce Gladwin's short film with Geelong's Back to Back Theatre, a professional ensemble with actors with disabilities at its core, is like nothing else on television. Produced by the prolific Debbie Lee and Julie Eckersley, it is an unnerving look at a futuristic corporate dystopia, in which people are controlled by categorisation and fear. Simon Laherty and Sonia Tueben are mesmerising as cleaners dispatched to a ghost town.
CHRIS & JULIA’S SUNDAY NIGHT TAKEAWAY
★★★
7.30pm, Ten
This brash giveaway panto is a bit of fun. Julia Morris and Chris Brown have the repartee and flexibility to run the organised chaos and the warm-up guy is clearly doing a sterling job of whipping that crowd into a malleable frenzy. Tonight, The Bold and the Beautiful's Ronn Moss is a guest announcer; and Bachelor success story, Tim Robards and Anna Heinrich play "choose the right wedding planner".
