TNN | Mar 11, 2019, 04:23 ISTGurgaon: The district registrar has appointed an ad-hoc committee to conduct fresh RWA elections in Suncity township which was handed over to MCG on Thursday.
The 6-member body will accept all membership-related documents, which will be followed by the selection of returning officer. Suncity is the first colony to be taken over by the MCG and the new RWA will be now operate under the aegis of MCG.
The order reads as: “This office has received a request from the management of Suncity residents’ welfare association for appointment of a returning officer to conduct the elections of the governing body. After a detailed discussion and as per the records of this office, it is clear that the term of the governing body expired on February.”
Meanwhile, RWA members of the current governing body told TOI they haven’t handed over the charge yet.
“The ad-hoc body will be given the official records for their perusal,” said Kuldeep Rana, RWA president.
He added, “After that, lists will be prepared. Only after checking the records, the final list will be drawn. No new members can be added after the appointment of the ad hoc body.”
Residents told TOI that they are happy that the new RWA, which would be elected, will operate directly under MCG.
“The new RWA will have significant direct interactions with MCG, which has funds at its disposal,” a resident said. TNN
