24.05 L to vote in Vadodara district
TNN | Mar 11, 2019, 04:08 ISTVadodara: Vadodara district collector Shalini Agrawal on Sunday evening announced that the model code of conduct has come into force with the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections.
“We have issued necessary directives to remove all the hoardings,” she said, while addressing mediapersons.
According to district election officials, as on January 31, the total number of voters registered in Vadodara district stand at 24.05 lakh which include 12.38 lakh male voters and 11.66 lakh female voters.
The district has 2,582 polling booths at 1,290 polling stations. Of the total polling booths, 1,389 polling booths are in urban areas while 1,193 polling booths fall in rural areas.
The notification for the polls will be issued on March 28 while the last date of nomination is April 4 after which scrutiny of the nomination forms will be done.
The last date of withdrawal of candidature is April 8 while the polling will take place on April 23. The counting of the votes will be done on May 23.
Reiterating ECI’s announcement, the district election officer said that ‘C-vigil’ mobile application has been launched for citizens to report any violation of the model code of conduct.
“By using this app, citizens can immediately report on incidents of misconduct within minutes of having witnessed them and without having to rush to the office of the returning officer to lodge a complaint,” she said.
